Winship Green Celebrates "Be An Angel Day"

Bath, ME - Winship Green Nursing Center, a skilled rehab and nursing center in Bath, ME practices "giving" everyday. The residents give to other residents and staff through helping each other with encouragement, stories and history; and the staff gives through helping residents with rehab and care needs and through their "Angel Care" Program. On August 22, they practiced a different kind of giving. In honor of "Be An Angel Day", Winship Green Nursing Center staff and residents put together a gift basket of school supplies for the Oliver Place Teen Center in Bath.

The Oliver Place Teen Center is a group home for high risk teenagers. When Patty Kay, the Director of Nurses, dropped off the donation, the Case Manager at The Oliver Place Teen Center, stated "Without this, we were only going to be able to give each student 1 notebook and 2 pencils to start school."

This kind of caring that was extended to the Oliver Place Teen center is an example of the day to day service that Winship provides to it’s staff and residents. The "Angel Care" program is a nationwide program in the Kindred Healthcare centers and was instituted to develop better customer focused care in the centers. The "Angel Care" program focuses extra attention on our residents. The goal is simple- to meet the special needs of the people we care for every day.

Each resident is assigned an "angel" to visit them each day to check in with them regarding their stay and if all of their needs are being met. Any issues or concerns are brought immediately to the correct personnel and the concern is dealt with. Family members or guardians are contacted frequently to make sure things are going well. Resident’s are notified upon admission with a card with the name and title of their "Angel". We strive for the best care possible, sometimes extra attention increases our ability to add value to the care we provide to our residents.

Many times residents are not sure who to direct their questions or concerns to when they are staying in a center. This program makes it easier for the resident to get their questions answered throughout their stay. The "Angel" and their resident form a relationship, where questions can be answered quickly and efficiently. Our goal at Winship Green is to set the benchmark for professional excellence and commitment to the residents and families we serve. Our "Angel Care" Program is an essential part of achieving that goal.

Please contact Winship Green Nursing Center to find out more about the "Angel Care" program and many other customer focused programs.
